As you may have noticed, 3DAstronomer is a sophisticated software package that requires the latest OpenGL drivers to work.
For OpenGL hardware accelerated games to work correctly your video cards driver must include OpenGL support in addition to having a video card that supports OpenGL instructions.
The great majority of cards support OpenGL, some integrated video chipsets and older video cards (made before 1998) may not or do but at very slow speeds.
Many pre-installed video drivers that come with new Windows computers do not support any form of hardware accelerated OpenGL, so even if your card does, games will fail to run until you install an updated driver from your video cards manufacturer.
The best part is that this should be a simple free update from your graphic card supplier.
Some steps to help you out:
In Windows XP:
1. Right click on the desktop and choose Properties. 2. Choose Settings and Advanced. 3. Depending on your graphics display card, different tabs display. Choose Adapter > Properties for the card data that includes the amount of memory on the card. Choose Driver for the driver details, including the driver version.
In Windows Vista:
1. Right click your desktop and choose Personalize. 2. Select Display Settings > Advanced Settings. The Adapter tab displays your card data, which includes the amount of memory on the card. 3. Choose Properties > Driver to get the driver version.
In Windows 7:
1. Right click your desktop and choose Screen Resolution. 2. Select Advanced Settings. The Adapter tab displays your card data, which includes the amount of memory on the card. 3. Choose Properties > Driver to get the driver version.
